We don't know how to talk about $ex. We were never taught about it. $ex was always a dirty picture. It was just there. Everyone knew it. Every life was impacted by it. But only a few could talk gracefully about it. Those who didn't know much, held the mouthpiece. Most of us (mis)learnt from these legends. Those who knew, and also could talk about it, were only a few, and were mostly called vulgar, blasphemous, anti-this-thing or anti-that-thing! They made everyone uncomfortable. We were told to stay away from them. Ironically, many times, they were also the first ones to be blamed for the misguided youth.
The youth learnt $ex from the streets, from the myths, and from the urban legends. Different genders carried different ideas about $ex. Different economic strata experienced $ex differently. Different countries formed different approaches towards $ex. No matter where you go, only your approach was pious and others were dirty.
As we got old, as our light started to fade, and we started seeing few things clearly. It dawned upon us that there could be a better way. As a beginning some of us acknowledged that there is a need as well as a possibility of change. As our hormones started dying, we were struck by the wisdom for those who were seeing the dawn of hormones.
Today, some of us silently acknowledge that there could have been a way to teach right things about $ex. We silently acknowledge that there could have been a way to talk about the right expectations, the right ways. We quietly realised that talking about $ex or being able to talk about $ex, may not make anyone a good or a bad person, or even inadequate. But it could create a possibility of getting better as a generation. Some of us silently imagine a world where one wouldn't get embarrassed or targeted for being a certain way, for liking a certain things, or for asking questions, for standing up or for even not standing up.
Although we exactly didn't know, we silently acknowledged that there could be a vocabulary to correctly express oneself without feeling ashamed, sad, embarrassed or attacked. I know that there is a cleaner discourse possible. While we were silent, we didn't know when $ex silently became synonyms to p0rn.
Lately, I got interested in politics. I double clicked upon UK politics as the prime ministers were changing one after another. I double clicked into American politics when I was wondering how on earth a Trump can follow an Obama. I got interested in Indian politics after a long time on a number of occasions. Recent student protests took that interest to its peak. But while I know that I know a little, and I don't have the right vocabulary, I want to know more, I want to express, I want to talk, but I am scared to talk about it.
I see a hope. But I still feel scared to touch any political topic in public.
And hence I just changed the topic to p0rn. And I could say it all. Just read it all again, but keep it in mind it's really about politics.
Do you feel the same way, I do?
